This is a record of my efforts to restomod my 1968 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. The goal is to build a "double take" FJ40, keeping the core components such as the drivetrain and axle assemblies Toyota and making improvements where they make sense and improve the performance and drivability of the vehicle. Factory from a distance until you look again. The Target Use is trails. Mild-to-moderate crawling, snow wheeling, dunes, and desert.
I got the transmission all mounted up today. I was alone, so I rigged up a couple of ratchet straps to finish the job. I got it in place using the transmission wiggle technique to get it to the studs, then cranked the straps a couple of times to pull the transmission flush with the mounting flange. 20 mins flat!
